Submit this letter to Greensville County to express your concerns with the upcoming County Zoning Ordinance Hearing.
Dear Members of the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors,
I am writing to ask you to vote against the proposed Utility Scale Solar Zoning Ordinance amendment language being considered at the September 5, 2023, Board of Supervisor’s meeting. We support the Planning Director’s June 13, 2023 proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments which sought to clarify the historical interpretation of the size of solar facilities, the minimum distance between approved solar projects, and the method to calculate both of these defined terms.
We rely upon orderly amendment of the Zoning Ordinance and consistent interpretation. Since the 2021 Zoning Ordinance amendment, we have spent considerable time and resources adhering to the current Zoning Ordinance which has created a good solar project – Rosalind Solar. The proposed amendment should not be allowed to impact Rosalind Solar. Also, this Board must ensure prior to action that unintended consequences resulting from reduced real estate tax collections are quantified.
We urge you not to approve the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
