SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A new five-megawatt solar farm will come online in late spring 2014 in Springfield, City Utilities announced early Monday morning.
In a news release, CU said the solar farm — which would be the largest in Missouri — will be located in eastern Greene County and be operated by Strata Solar. CU will receive power from the project through a power purchase agreement; the power generated will help provide on-peak power when electricity is in high demand. The contract for the project spans 25 years, CU said.
